Objective research on the evaluation of the international innovative competitiveness related to service business model innovation, is needed as a basis to further specify supporting policies related to the service sector where high value-added and competitiveness enhancement is stagnant, In particular, it is necessary to evaluate the innovative competitiveness reflecting the recent trend of increasing use of digital transformation technologies in service business models and the relatedness between digital transformation technologies and service business model innovation. However, existing studies related to this are very scarce, and basic data for effective policy establishment are lacking. Therefore, it is necessary to objectively evaluate Korea’s digital transformation-based service business model innovation competitiveness compared to major countries, and to propose a more desirable development direction for policy support based on the results of competitiveness analysis.
By applying the patent index analysis and technology space model to the business method(BM) patent data for the two periods of 2010~2014 and 2015~2019, this study attempts to objectively compare and analyze the innovative competitiveness of 9 major countries, including Korea regarding digital transformation-based service business model innovation. Based on the results, this study attempts to derive policy implications that can contribute to the revitalization of digital transformation-based service business model innovation.
