The risk of coastal areas due to climate change has been predicted for a long time, and vulnerability is expected to increase. To recognize the risks of the climate crisis and manage coastal cities sustainably, information on risks for coastal cities due to climate change must be properly presented. The purpose of this study was to derive a flood risk area for the coastal area of Gyeongsangnam-do, identify the buildings distributed throughout the area, present the risks, and derive policy implications. The first step of this study was to examine the spatial range of the high risk of flooding in the coastal areas of Gyeongsangnam-do. The second step in the analysis process was to analyze spatial vulnerability by analyzing buildings subject to flood risk corresponding to the analyzed spatial range. Finally, based on this, we derived policy implications. As a result of the analysis, the expected flooded area in the coastal area of Gyeongsangnam-do corresponds to a total of 86.23 km², and 57,478 buildings were included in coastal inundation prediction. As a result of detailed spatial analysis, it was found that national industrial complexes, large-scale ports (such as Masan Port), and apartment complexes are expected to incur significant damage, and the risk of flooding in new towns built in coastal areas is high. To improve the safety of the coastal areas, it is necessary to recognize risks posted to such area by using a coastal flood forecast map in the short term and actively using it for the evacuation of residents in the case of a typhoon forecast. Also, it is necessary to continuously analyze spatial vulnerabilities and present concrete alternatives. In particular, it is crucial to prepare practical and concrete alternatives by analyzing regional characteristics, such as the number, shape, and use of buildings in risky areas.
