Federated learning is a promising distributed learning technique that protects the privacy of data used for learning. However, it has been difficult to apply the existing federated learning deployment framework to real-world edge devices. The Flower framework overcomes this and supports the deployment of scalable federated learning systems. Using the Flower framework, we build and run several experiments that compare the performance of centralized learning and federated learning, apply federated learning to pre-learned models, and evaluate the performance of several federated learning algorithms.
