Since Korea’s tidal flats were listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage in 2021, public interest in and awareness of tidal flats has further expanded through media reports. In addition, the value of tidal flats as a tourist destination has been re-examined, and the demand for tidal flat ecotourism has been increasing. In this context, this study aims to discuss policies and systems for the development of tidal flat ecotourism in the future by objectively analyzing its major issues using topic modeling. Specifically, unstructured data related to tidal flat ecotourism in the media coverage area for the last three years was extracted, and the potential semantic structure between each topic was analyzed through topic modeling analysis of the refined data. Through the Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA), one of the topic modelings, 12 topics related to tidal flat ecotourism were derived, and the overall topics were largely divided into tidal flat related policies, tidal flat ecological resources, and other issues. Based on the results, social discourse on tidal flat ecotourism was discussed, and policy measures for increased demand and balanced development of tidal flat ecotourism were sought.
