    We propose a system to prevent car accidents in school zones caused by blind spots. The prevention system comprises two main functions: the detection of the distance between a car and a pedestrian and the issuance of danger notifications based on the detected distance. To identify pedestrians in blind spots, we modified a pavement block with a piezoelectric sensor and established a real-time location tracking system using ultra-wideband communication. Consequently, the system can measure the distance between a car and a pedestrian in real-time and alert the driver through vibrations on the vehicle handle. During the design process of the pavement block, we conducted a simulated structural analysis model to validate the reliability of the system and developed a triangulation method using Arduino. Finally, we set up the prototype of the system and validated its functions in small-scale scenarios. The results indicate that the proposed system is effective in reducing the accident rate associated with blind spots.
