Recently, rural housing is facing serious problems due to the aging population, and empty houses are also increasing due to factors such as mortality and long-term care. The government has been promoting rural housing improvement projects and residential environment improvement projects, but because there are limits to the support budget and scope of improvement, it is essential to present a fundamental solution to solve this problem. Therefore, this study conducted an actual survey and in-depth interviews with residents in three villages to analyze the housing situation in the target area where the rural housing improvement project was applied. As a result, residents" own activities and the scope of expert support were improved when improving housing. It was analyzed that guidelines for the subject and specific measures for each housing improvement process were needed.
