In recent years, much research has been conducted on generational conflict in Korea. Conflict between the younger and older generations is particularly prominent. Coupled with the dismal economic situation and the older generation’s rise in the political ranks, generational distrust and hatred appear to be causing a serious problem. To wisely resolve the generational conflict in Korea, it is meaningful to understand the overall content of generational theory in Korea and Japan. Korea and Japan have experienced rapid economic growth, and various generations have been born amidst the acceptance of various cultures and economic development. Although the generations’ names differ, they are similar to each other, albeit with clear differences in their contents. Presently, as young people in both countries share and communicate with contemporary culture through the development of the Internet and information and communication technologies, they are experiencing generational problems and conflicts with similar characteristics although they are in different countries.
