This study substantiated variations in human cognitive responses to the greenness index, indicative of the perceived green ratio across the entire field of view, using an electroencephalogram measurement experiment. The study aimed to shed light on emotional responses and provide insights for impactful space design. Three spatial images were analyzed based on differences in the percentage of green colors (SGI "a"=0.32%; SGI "b"=23.76%; SGI "c"=58.70%) and the count of green colors (SGI "a"=2; SGI "b"=6; SGI "c"=3). Educational experience"s impact on cognitive processes was examined by classifying subjects based on architecture and design education. EEG analysis involved comparing basic and measured data in cerebral areas (frontal, parietal, temporal, occipital lobes) and frequency ranges (RT, RA, RB, RG). Statistical analysis and independent t-tests were conducted on the experimental participants" EEG data in cerebral areas and frequency ranges, identifying significant values and active responses. The findings can be summarized as follows: Firstly, there was a significant active response observed in the common frequency ranges of RG and RT, with pronounced activity in the cerebral areas of the frontal, parietal, and occipital lobes. Secondly, compared to SGI "c", which has a high percentage of green scale in spatial images, SGI "a" and SGI "b", which have low greenness index, seem to have focused attention and activated spatial analysis. Thirdly, in contrast to the high greenness index in SGI "a", spaces with a greenness index, such as SGI "b" and SGI "c", exhibited heightened emotional cognitive and cognitive activities. In conclusion, this comparative study on the impact of the greenness index in spatial environments aimed to furnish essential data for space planning.
