Previous studies on Sendai Mediatheque are mostly qualitative research that study the meaning of relationships between architectural elements and the concept of emerging grid. Due to the relative lack of analysis of the building itself, which was the realization of the architectural concept mentioned by Toyo Ito, we conducted research on the connection between space and structure at Sendai Mediatheque through 3D models, parametric tools, and Karamba3D, a structural analysis program. After the 90s, parametric tools began to be used as tools in architectural design. Since it can function not only as an algorithmic tool but also as a structural review, the scope of architects’ design use has expanded, and through this, concerns about structure can be resolved. The purpose is to determine how the structural analysis program can be used to maximize design concepts and whether it is effective.
