Recently, the AM (additive manufacturing) technique has emerged as a sustainable alternative technology for producing near net-shape permanent magnets with complex geometries. In particular, the LPBF (Laser Powder Bed Fusion) provides an advantage in producing magnets with a fine microstructure which is beneficial for magnetic properties regardless of the size or shape of the part. The cooling rate of the melt pool in the LPBF process ranges from 10⁵ to 10⁷ K/s, which is significantly faster than other additive manufacturing processes. The most of studies on the LPBF process for permanent magnets have focused on the Nd-Fe-B based permanent magnets. However, studies on the existing permanent magnet using LPBF are limited to the correlation between process variables and density, as well as the correlation between density and magnetic properties.
