In the process of making title sequences, up to nowadays major attention is generally focused on the opening titles with added consideration for its importance as an independent segment, while comparatively less or insufficient attention is directed to end credits. Under such circumstances, for example, the opening titles are treated with colorful and careful elaborations, meanwhile those for end credits are ill-treated without proper consideration, plan, and preparation. Further on, it is mistreated as some leftovers of the main feature in a film by showing just NG cuts, making film, and episodes recorded while taking pictures. In addition there exists a drastic comparison in evaluation between the two, and major difference lies in that the opening titles is treated as creative arts designed by art designers. This report attempts to seek a proper evaluation and treatment between the two, especially towards those related with end credits - not just treating it merely as information materials - on the basis of respective concept and history. In-depth researches were made to obtain necessary information on varied concepts, fundamental system, and history of film titling process. The report also presents the analysis on graphic design method and its application to the existing end credit designs in use. It is an encouraging aspect to find that there looms a pioneering movement toward the application of the design technique for the work, and burgeoning efforts to firmly establishing it as another independent field of arts in the future. Such movement has long been initiated in Hollywood, U. S. A., and made conspicuous progress so far. It is sincerely expected that this report might lead to inviting attention and in-depth studies, and contribute to laying the foundation for further development in the near future.
