This study focuses on evaluating how the Smart Bus Platform, a public facility evolving with the advancement of the fourth industrial revolution and information and communication technology, is designed and operated in a user-centric manner. The purpose of the research is to investigate whether the Smart Bus Platform has been installed considering the universal values of the public and limited space and resources, and whether such a Smart Facility, like traditional public facilities, enhances public interest and reflects the user experience through a survey of citizen perceptions. The methodology of the research involved a perception survey centered on gender, age, location, occupation, and duration of residence, investigating the awareness, preference, frequency of use, and necessity of the Smart Bus Platform. Additionally, based on awareness, the study categorized users into the ‘aware group’ and the ‘unaware group’, conducting usability surveys and gathering a wide range of citizen opinions through multiple responses. The findings highlight the importance of tailoring Smart Facility to the user experience when installing innovative public facilities like the Smart Bus Platform. Not only should it provide information, but it should also offer a safe and comfortable waiting space, designed to enhance convenience according to various behavioral patterns during waiting. It’s crucial to consider the necessity of facilities related to fine dust, CCTV, defibrillators, etc., while also addressing the discomfort they may cause to some users. Direct service facilities like wireless chargers and DID are preferred by the ‘aware group’, whereas the ‘unaware group’ does not see the need for them. Therefore, determining the further introduction of these facilities based on user evaluations post-installation is logical. Lastly, the study finds that citizens have a fairly accurate perception of the costs associated with the Smart Bus Platform, and the term ‘smart’ is deemed suitable for public facilities managed integrally through the fusion of information and communication technology. This research suggests that when installing complex public facilities like the Smart Bus Platform, it is essential to understand the user experience regionally and generationally, selecting and placing Smart Facilities in a user-centric manner.
