The purpose of this study is to examine the necessity of the National Sport Participation Panel Study and to seek ways to build it. To this end, the concept and use examples of panel data were first examined, and the construction plan of the National Sport Participation Panel Study was studied. The main results of this study are as follows. First, the National Sport Participation Panel Study should include the National Sports for All survey, which is a single-year cross-sectional survey currently being investigated. Second, it is appropriate to design a panel survey as a fixed panel survey. Third, the target population is the whole nation aged 5 or older, and the survey frequency is one year. Fourth, the survey contents are classified into households and individuals, and questions are asked about basic and economic matters of households, individual health and physical strength, leisure and participation in sports for all. Fifth, it is necessary to reduce the burden of response and secure reliable data through linkage with administrative data.
