The purpose of this study was to identify the current status and problems of traditional martial arts succession in Korea and seek ways to develop succession, and as a result, the following conclusions were obtained. First, it is necessary to revise the Traditional Martial Arts Promotion Act to lay the foundation for fostering traditional martial arts athletes. Second, local governments should enact and revise ordinances related to traditional martial arts to lay the foundation for more stable succession and development of traditional martial arts. Third, efforts should be made to inherit and develop traditional martial arts by preparing regulations of the Korean Sports Council related to traditional martial arts. Fourth, ''hwall shooting'' should be chosen, not archery, as the name for inheriting and developing our traditional martial arts. Fifth, it will be easier to develop traditional martial arts by converting Taekkyeon and archery events into registered sports clubs and converting them into designated sports clubs recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the future. Sixth, efforts should be made to inherit and develop traditional Mujer by giving the same fixed points to ssireum, archery, and Taekkyeon events and fostering Taekkyeon and archery as youth sports events.
