Korean military has introduced equipments and weapons systems from advanced countries over the past few decades. With the development of the fourth industrial revolution technology, the introduction of the latest weapon systems continues, and the increase in equipment maintenance costs of obsolete equipment is accelerating the disposal of old equipment. As a result, interest in disposal equipment and repair parts management is increasing. The military pushed for a policy to manage the repair parts of disposal equipment to reduce the defense budget as part of the defense military logistics innovation, but problems caused by excessive inventory are still occurring. In addition, research on disposal equipment inventory is active, but research on disposal equipment repair parts inventory is insufficient. This study aims to calculate the optimal inventory of disposal equipment repair parts using the system dynamics methodology. In addition, the optimal inventory management was calculated according to the change in the disposal time. The study was conducted in the order of comparative analysis by modeling the current and proposed policies reflecting random values and actual data. In the proposed policy, the optimal value of the purchase adjustment time was calculated and reflected in consideration of the total cost and equipment availability. Considering that most of the military’s equipment introduced is obsoleted, the issue of repair parts inventory management of equipment scheduled for Gradual Disposal is an important part. This study is meaningful in that it has contributed to reducing defense budget and efficient warehouse storage rates through proposed policy.
