This study investigates the semantic and grammatical nuances of the synonymous adjectives “accurate,” “correct,” and “precise” within British English, using advanced corpus-based tools, Wmatrix 5 and NetMiner 4.0. By analyzing their usage in the British National Corpus (BNC), the research identifies distinct semantic domains and grammatical patterns that characterize each adjective. The findings reveal that while these adjectives share common semantic fields, they also display unique collocational behaviors and grammatical tendencies that highlight subtle differences in their applications across various contexts. The study highlights the role of context in understanding adjective usage, providing insights beyond traditional dictionary definitions. These findings are crucial for linguistic theory and practical language education, demonstrating how corpus-based analyses can enhance English teaching and communicative competence.
