Interest in customized beauty care and its importance are rapidly increasing among MZ women, the primary consumers in the beauty industry today. In line with these beauty trends, this study aimed to examine the beauty care behaviors and appearance interests of MZ women according to their MBTI personality types. A survey was conducted on women aged 20 to 39 living in Seoul and the metropolitan area, yielding valuable insights. The results revealed significant differences based on various MBTI personality types. First, regarding the energy direction index, the E-external type exhibited higher levels of appearance interest and other-oriented traits compared to the I-introverted type. Second, in examining recognition functions, it was found that the N-intuitive type showed significant differences in appearance management, a sub-factor of overall appearance interest, as compared to the S-sensory type. Specifically, the N-intuitive type demonstrated a stronger inclination towards appearance management than the S-sensory type. Third, with respect to judgment function indicators, the T-thinking type was found to have a greater other-oriented focus than the F-feeling type, indicating notable differences in appearance interest. Lastly, based on lifestyle indicators, significant differences were identified between the P-recognition type and the J-judgment type in terms of hair management and overall appearance care. The findings from this study can serve as fundamental data for the development of customized beauty products and the establishment of effective marketing strategies aimed at promoting tailored product recommendations and production.
