As the importance of content in exhibitions increases today, contemporary technologies are being widely employed in exhibition staging. Augmented Reality (AR) is frequently used to enhance content presentation, and the incorporation of such technology requires effective storytelling techniques to improve user immersion and seamlessly set the context of the exhibition. To effectively use storytelling techniques, it is important to appropriately guide user behavior. This study aims to establish strategies for enhancing AR content storytelling in exhibitions based on affordance theory, which pertains to guiding user behavior. The research methodology includes the following steps: First, theoretical considerations based on prior research are used to develop a checklist for surveys and to set research questions. Second, surveys are conducted to evaluate the selected research subjects. Third, phenomenological qualitative research methods are employed for in-depth analysis to draw comprehensive conclusions. The study results suggest that, at the entrance of the exhibition hall, it is essential to actively use audiovisual elements that contrast with the surrounding space to make AR content easily recognizable. Additionally, it is necessary to provide devices for experiencing AR content within the exhibition and to minimize the number of execution steps. Finally, to facilitate interaction between the actual space and exhibition items with augmented reality content, it is beneficial to allow some flexibility in the content.
