    There is a strong demand for dissimilar material deposition processes, with ongoing research in the field of metal additive manufacturing. However, studies on the impact of process parameters on bead thermal characteristics, particularly using S45C and H13 materials, have been limited. This study investigates the impact of deposition process parameters on the bead thermal characteristics during the deposition of dissimilar materials, S45C and H13, using the Directed Energy Deposition (DED) process. Single bead deposition experiments were conducted under varying process parameters to acquire bead temperature characteristics. The deposition process parameters include feed rate, scan speed, and laser power, while the bead thermal characteristics are the average bead temperature and the average cooling rate. A total of 25 experimental conditions were designed using three process variables at five different levels. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was employed to analyze the influence of deposition process parameters on bead temperature characteristics. The correlation between heat input, calculated using the deposition process parameters, and bead thermal characteristics was explored through scatter plot analysis. This study identifies key indicators for controlling bead thermal characteristics in the DED process.
