Purpose : Hearing loss in the elderly makes auditory self-feedback difficult, which can lead to speech distortion. The purpose of this study was to determine the changes in acoustic characteristics in presbycusis with and without hearing aid use. Methods : Participants were five hearing aid users and five non-users. Their /a/, /i/, and /u/ vowels were recorded. Intensity, jitter, shimmer, frequency and amplitude of f1 and f2 were analyzed using Praat. Differences in acoustic characteristics based on hearing aid use were compared using Independent Sample t-tests. Results : There was a significant difference in acoustic characteristics between hearing aid users and non-users. Conclusions : Hearing aids can help with speech distortion by improving auditory self-feedback.
