This study aims to present the characteristics of an elderly-friendly residential space that induces social integration of the elderly in response to the super-aging society in Korea architecturally. Therefore, an in-depth investigation and analysis of residential spaces necessary for the elderly were attempted through literature review and case analysis. As a result of the analysis, the target facility was establishing an elderly-friendly architectural environment, and for this, various types of planning directions were shown.
The elderly-friendly residential space derived based on the results of this analysis has the following characteristics. First, the elderly-friendly residential space considers the physical changes of the elderly. Second, it carefully considers the psychological changes of the elderly. Third, it encourages the elderly to continue to participate in society. Such an elderly-friendly residential space can not only increase the satisfaction of the elderly with life but also contribute to alleviating long-term social problems.
