초록·키워드
The purpose of this study is to apply the Alexander Technique so that dance majors can understand themselves and make effective movements for themselves. The dance majors who applied for the study received Alexander Technique personal lessons once a week (50 minutes). Data were collected from April to July 2024 and used as research data such as interviews, observation diaries, and questionnaires conducted throughout the research process. The process of applying the Alexander Technique for dance major is as follows 1) interviews and movement observation to understand the characteristics of the participants 2) Alexander Technique and anatomy 3) Alexander Technique personal lessons. The experience of the dance major’s Alexander Technique was shown to be 1) ‘observation about myself’ 2) ‘activation of the senses’ 3) ‘an extension of perception’ 4) ‘changes in daily life and dance’. As a result of the study, it was found that the Alexander Technique relaxed unnecessary tension for dancers and allowed them to operate themselves in a more suitable and efficient way, away from fixed thoughts and movements.
