Oral frailty is a series of phenomena and processes in which oral vulnerability increases, eating function becomes impaired, and physical and mental functions deteriorate due to decreased interest in oral health or reduced mental and physical reserve capacity in response to various oral conditions such as number of teeth, oral hygiene, and oral function due to aging. Korea, on the verge of becoming a super-aging society in 2025, is reaching a consensus on Korea’s current oral frailty diagnosis criteria and proposing management plans starting in 2022. In Japan, oral hypofunction was recognized as a diagnosis in 2018, and oral health services related to it are receiving medical insurance benefits. This study aims to help conduct research on oral frailty in Korea by sharing information on related equipment, tools, and diagnostic criteria currently used to measure oral dysfunction in Japan. We collected and organized associated data on the use of Japanese equipment tools and diagnostic criteria. The information about the devices and tools used for evaluation was obtained through the company’s website and Google search, and they were implemented and described by the author, who diagnoses and provides education on oral dysfunction in Japan. By using this paper, we hope to make it easier to use diagnostic tools for oral functional decline and to help promote active research on oral aging in Korea.
