This paper emphasizes the importance of utilizing word family (詞族) analysis in Chinese character education to enhance learning efficiency. Many learners find memorizing Chinese characters challenging due to the vast number of characters compared to phonetic alphabets like Roman letters or Hangul. This study proposes that the concept of word families and their analytical results should be actively applied to Chinese character education. By understanding the derivation and expansion of meanings within a word family, learners can more effectively grasp and retain the characters. This approach not only improves learning outcomes but also maintains learner motivation by providing a structured and meaningful learning process.
