Objective: The current research aims to provide a new perspective on the sit-stand schedule, specifically focusing on the fatigue mechanism of low back passive tissues when using standing desks. Background: Numerous studies have extensively examined the sit-stand schedule when using a standing desk, focusing on the physical and cognitive work load, and have identified standing posture as a means of alleviating active tissue fatigue from prolonged sitting. One should note that the load of the upper body could be offset partly by the chair backrest in sitting posture, whereas standing posture requires low back active tissues (e.g., lumbar erector spinae) and passive tissues (e.g., ligaments, intervertebral discs) to afford all of the upper body load. This might indicate a more significant low back fatigue generation in standing posture than that in sitting posture. Previous research primarily concentrated on the biomechanical impacts on low back active tissues caused by extended sitting or standing posture, offering recommendations for a sit-stand schedule. However, the biomechanical effects on passive tissues remained poorly documented. Since the passive tissue fatigue takes easier to induce further low back disorders due to its longer recove ... 전체 초록 보기
