This article looked into partisan activities with focusing on the leadership and participants of the Yosun Incident from the Songchigol Valley’s Meeting at Deogyusan Mountain in July 1951 up to 1954. Moreover, it illuminated partisan activities again, discussing mainly various issues raised in the study on partisans, with partisan activities and each provincial party guerrilla’s support in South Army(Nambugun)’s reaching Jirisan Mountain, united division’s military action and relations with Jeonnam provincial party’s guerrilla, organization time of the 5th district party and Lee Hyun Sang’s dispatch of liaison unit for connection with the central party, and the 5th district party’s reorganization of the guerrilla units and underground party work, etc.
The leadership and participants of the Yosun Incident took the important part in commemoration struggle for August 15 in 1951 and entering struggle into Jirisan Mountain. Also, they played the central role in united operation after the South Army’s division formation. However, they suffered considerable damage while they joined in the partisan divisions’ united operation and responded to winter mopping up operation by Task Force Paik. Furthermore, due to the failure of liaison unit dispatched by Lee Hyun Sang after the 5th district party had been organized in 1951 August or early September, leading partisan personnel was killed in action or captured with injury.
Partisans were hit severely by the military and the police’s subjugation operations several times. Partisans who left mountains to look for underground party work were arrested or killed, too. After the 5th district party was disbanded, partisan activities in Honam area including Jirisan Mountain declined and came to an end. Thus the leadership and participants of the Yosun Incident and civilian left wing force mostly were killed in action or arrested up to the first half of 1954.
