In this paper, the Battle of the Wekyo-seong in Suncheon, which fought over Wekyo-seong in Suncheon where the Japanese army led by Konishi Yukinaga was stationed from land and sea was explored through the document called 『宇都宮高麗歸陣軍物語』. This document is a record of Utsunomiya Kunitsuna (宇都宮國綱), a Japanese general who participated in the Jeongyu Rebellion, participating in the Battle of the Wekyo-seong in Suncheon.
This document contains information on Utsunomiya Kunitsuna’s participation in the Jeongyujaeran War, the structure of Wekyoseong in Suncheon, negotiations, and battles between Ming and Japanese forces at Wekyo-seong of Suncheon, the activities of the Joseon naval forces, the structure of Joseon ships, and the Battle of Noryang. In particular, the contents of the movement of the Japanese army stationed in Wekyo-seong, Suncheon, the tactics of the Allied forces from the viewpoint of the Japanese military, and the ships of Joseon and the weapons and tactics used are difficult to find in other materials. In order to reconstruct the Battle of the Wekyo-seong in Suncheon, a comparative review of not only Korean historical records but also various historical records should be carried out.
