In the beginning of the Japanese Invasion War in the 16th century. Korean Left fleet and Right fleet of Gyeongsang had the greatest forces of the Korean Navy. But they collapsed themselves without a seabble. The Left fleet Admiral Park-Hong. he slipped away from the sea to the land just after the beginning of the war. The Right fleet Admiral Won-Kyun. he failed to mobilize and concentrate the battleships owing to his paucity of leadership and the lack of war preparations. So. it was the left fleet of Jeolla that could check the Japanese Fleet's advance. The Fleet Admiral was Yi sun-shin.
The Korean Navy. with the fleet of Yi sun-shin as the central figure. won a complete victory over the seabble of Okpo as a first seabble between Korea and Japan. Korean Navy could victory because of the carefully plan of operations and the excellent leadership of Admiral Yi sun-shin. But Japanese Navy losed the battle because of the negligence of Korean Navy.
