This study investigates heart rate (HR) responses to craving-inducing stimuli in individuals with alcohol use disorder, with the aim of exploring HR as a potential physiological biomarker. Participants were exposed to VR-based scenarios designed to elicit varying levels of alcohol craving, during which ECG and PPG signals were continuously recorded. The analysis revealed that HR tended to increase with higher craving levels in most participants, suggesting that HR reflect autonomic responses associated with craving and may serve as a candidate biomarker for physiological monitoring of alcohol craving.
