    Methylorubrum extorquens PA1 is a promising platform for methanol-based bioproduction. To streamline formate oxidation and explore adaptive responses, a Δfdh234 strain was subjected to adaptive laboratory evolution under stepwise methanol conditions. All evolved strains exhibited significantly improved growth under both 0.5% and 5.0% methanol compared to controls. Genomic analysis revealed highly convergent mutations, most notably a Y57D substitution in MEXT_RS12810, encoding O-acetyl-L-homoserine sulfhydrylase, appearing in all evolved strains.
