Choi-lang-jeon has such various interesting these as the relationship of reality and literary imagination, the particular love of younger girl, and so on. And this work has a structure of several strata including gentry's desire of being haman and masculine in Yi dynasty. It had a certain limitation of the framework of a story, in that it was novelized into an actual event. Rather, it gave a kind of tension to its narration, and strengthened a factor of fiction by inviting readers to have literary imagination, who are in lack of information. The point of this work is the scene that the dying heroine Choi Lang expressed her wish that she would want only a sex with the hero Lee Tong-pan, but, nevertheless, he refused her dying wish. This scene came from a certain trauma that the two lovers got at the bridal night. Therefore, there is a tragedy in this work, which is owing to her strong will of overcoming the trauma and completing one of three female duties through a physical action of cohabitation. So, it seems to me that the lovers' conflicting pursuit has the twofold ironical sides. Implicatively, there is gentry's desire that he loves and is loved anyone of his own accord. On the other hand, after the heroine's tragic death, there is a kind of orientation that tried to dissolve several characters' sadness, tragic chastity, and so on. It is one of characteristics of Korean tragedy, which is different from the western tragedy that rapidly runs the grand finale.
