In the rapidly changing society, the reading is essential element to live for human. People know so- Korean do not read books well. This thesis aims for the purpose to found the reason in the history with our society. Passing Japanese's colonial period & the military regime, our reading environment was far free. Nevertheless, the university students of these days do not read books much. A media variety and busy life of today interfere with a slow reading. Therefore today needs the more technical reading education. The school education can not fulfill all reading education. The change according to a multi media period must be achieved to make the foundation of the reading education. The foundation of the reading education contains the atmosphere to read books socially, the becoming habit of the reading books from the family education, The well-made of the school library and public library.
