The aim of this study is to provide an overview of evaluation on writing instruction and to address the perspective and approach of valuation on writing instruction. Research on evaluating writing instruction is still in its early stage. The goal of evaluation of writing instruction is to help improve writing instruction by ensuring fair and substantive evaluations of teacher's instructional practices in writing. This paper take a closer look at four studies addressed evaluation on writing instruction. The evaluation framework and writing observation framework proposed in these studies are built on writing process approach. Because writing curriculum and materials for teaching is based on writing process approach, therefore the framework for evaluation on writing instruction should draw on writing process approach. This paper proposed a criterion for evaluation on writing instruction based on a criterion for evaluation on Korean language instruction. Evaluation of writing instruction is designed to provide in formation that help them to alter their teaching in ways that improve student learning. It gives teachers the specific feedback they need to improve their writing instruction. It can be used in teacher education contexts.
