This paper intends to examine oppression and exclusion by visual response, the negative aspect on the mass media theory of Jean Baudrillard who holds a pessimistic view about the visual culture of modern consumption society. The paper intends to first focus on the sign value which consumes the desire of othering like 'the differentiated desire' that generates oppression and exclusion and probe the possible overthrow on oppression and exclusion by visual response.
According to Baudrillard, in the post-modern world, life is being reproduced by media. That is, life is totally mediated by the reproduction of media. However, as life is totally mediated by reproduction, 'the crisis of reproduction' can be happened in the simulation where derivative reality rules. It’s because there is no real reproduction but only imitation remains. In particular media is making a world of simulation in which the subject is excluded today. As media reproduces contents without referents, substance or the real, not including any social meaning, it can sink with message.
Therefore, it can be said that 'media literacy' is most demanded to comprehend various communication media, its symbol and message that penetrates the daily life in the oppressive real world on which media are making an empire on reading.
