This article was written to study on the expression and imagery of gardening villas of Tang Dynasty poetry in ancient China. The gardening villas were in different numbers in different times and the flourishing of gardening villas were depend on the social economic and politic environment of Tang dynasty. It also gives poet the room of creation power, solidarity between poets, mental stability, and they can remove homesick like feel in their hometown.Especially, the gardening villa of Tang Dynasty was very important things to government officials. Most of government officials are basically writer in that times, and they have no sufficient time and conditions to stay in nature. So, in a sense, the gardening villa was a vehicle for man to nature. To stay in gardening villa was a good method of stay in nature also.The imagery of gardening villa in Tang Dynasty poetry shows it can make the poets describe vividly rural life, harmony with nature, mental nostalgia. The imagery of gardening villa and the scenary of surrounding has become the embodiment of Chinese aesthetic mentality. And it also can say that the imagery of gardening villa in Tang Dynasty poetry regarding poet’s philosophies, aesthetics, psychological structures and creative features, and in some degree, the space sense of gardening villa was a mirror of their spiritual conditions.
