This paper is designed to examine Leonardo Boff’s ecclesiology and its implications for pastoral theology. As a liberation theologian whose main concern is ecclesiology, Boff has developed very powerful practical ecclesiology which has rich implications for both pastoral theology and practical theology. In the course of arguments, I present a brief sketch of Boff’s life, an outline of his theological methodology, his understanding of the church, and some implications of his ecclesiology for pastoral theology. Through my arguments, I aim to show that the emancipatory aspect of liberation theology can provide pastoral theologians with rich wisdom as well as critique in their attempts to help the persons in need
