The purpose of this research was to examine health conditions and the needs of health care services. The respondents were 150 old men residing in rural area. The data were analyzed by statistical methods such as frequency and chi-square test.
The results of this study were as follows.
1. 59% of the elderly had chronic diseases and 71.4% of the elderly took physical examination.
2. Chronic disease and income were significant predictors for professional nursing homes and adult day care service.
3. Age and income were strongly associated with homemaker service.
4. Education, limitations on activities of daily living, and recognition of services for the elderly were strongly associated with visiting nurse service.
Implications of the findings were discussed and the recommendations for the future directions for health policies for the rural elderly were presented.
