In this article a clinical psychological view on the continuity of self was discussed. This 'continuity' means connection of consciusness with unconsciousness, internal world with external world, psyche with body, and the present with the past or the future. It is thought that these various aspects of 'continuity' degermine our experience considerably. Firstly, some psychoanalytic theories such as Freud, Hartmann, Jung, Klein, Winnicott, Balinet, Erikson, and Laing were illustrated, and some notion on them were discousssed. And then, some clinical issues such as schizophrenia, personality disorders, psychosomatic disease, dissociative disorders and object loss were examined. As a result, it is thought that the theme of 'continuity of self' is very important in both psychoanalytic theories and clinical issues. So it is significant for psychotherapy to recover the 'continuity'.
