In this paper, we investigate the industrial location of business service(BS) sector across the five 'wide economic areas' and analyze the competitiveness of two and three digit BS industries by region using the specialization index. A great portion of the BS firms are concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area and the agglomeration of BS firms to the core city has been progressed within the area. With regard to the industrial location of BS firms, strong regional disparities across the areas within the nation are found. The metropolitan area of Seoul accounts for 58% of the number of BS firms of the country and 68% of its BS employments and 77% of its BS value added. We can also find that the BS firms located in the core city in each area are much bigger in terms of both sales and employments than those located in the other regions in the same area(except for the Daegu and Incheon). Furthermore, Seoul shows the strong competitiveness in the most of the BS categories while other core cities show relative competitiveness only in the limited categories of the BS industry. It is recommended for the government to take such policy which is designed to promote the core city as the site of business service hub, which provide specialized service both to the start up entrepreneur and existing business within the area.
