This study is aimed to categorize married-life adaptation types of Korean males who have been married to foreign females and to direct future studies. From May 2012 to November 2012, surveys for the purposes were conducted with 15 internationally-married males in Daegu City. Strauss and Corbin’s Grounded Theory Approach(1988) was applied to analyze the data.
118 concepts, 36 sub-categories, and 17 categories were derived from the in-depth interviews with 15 participants. Those categories were classified into 3 following types: adjustment type, tenacity type, and dilemma type. 5 males came under the adjustment type, 4 under the tenacity type, and 6 under the dilemma type. The results of the surveys suggest that marriage support services should focus on providing the programs for not only the foreign females but also the internationally married Korean males.
