This study analyzed how television human documentary construct the meaning of interracially married women to Korean men. Multicultural families in Korea is rapidly increasing in Korea and it is important to examine how the media, the shaper of public perception of reality, represent the change. The result reveal that human documentary emphasize the role of mother-in-law as the mentor for adapting to Korean culture and ways of living. This lead to the possible reproduction of patriarchal ideology. Television also portray these women"s life confined within the realm of family largely ignoring their presence in public sector. This representation may lead to the symbolic annihilation of migrant women in Korean society. Documentary portray the personality trait of inter-racially women as hardworking and economical and making contribution to family economy. Depiction of this kind shape the social expectation toward the inter-racially married women as offering sacrifice and devotion to the family, which is rather unrealistic.
