This study examines the procedures of the Munmyo Jerye during the early Joseon Dynasty, as well as the Akjang(樂章) and Akhyeon(樂懸) of Munmyo Jeryeak, specifically focusing on historical records within the 『Gukjo Oryeui』.
The Munmyo Jerye, as detailed in the 『Gukjo Oryeui』, is a ritual dedicated to honoring the virtues of Confucian sages and scholars and following their academic achievements. The accompanying music, Munmyo Jeryeak, is a form of Aak(雅樂) that was restored to closely align with the principles of the Zhouli(周 禮). By praising the virtues of these sages through song, it represents a reconstruction of the ancient ideal system. In this regard, it is highly significant to analyze the Munmyo Jeryeak up to the reign of King Seongjong, which serves as the foundation for the modern ritual, through the lens of the 『Gukjo Oryeui』.
