The purpose of this study was to analyze research trends on the management and utilization of urban underutilized spaces in domestic urban and architectural studies from 2000 to 2025. A systematic literature review based on PRISMA guidelines was conducted on 128 KCI-listed journal articles, categorizing them by space types and research topics. The results showed a significant increase in research volume since 2016, but revealed a heavy bias toward case studies (45.3%) and industrial facilities (29.7%), highlighting the need for balanced research on under-represented space types and empirical management-oriented studies.
