This study examined the application level of healing environment elements in the outdoor spaces of three reconstructed apartment complexes in Gwacheon-si, completed after 2020. Although design guidelines for healing environments in apartment complexes had been established, empirical verification of their implementation in recently built complexes remained limited. Drawing on the guidelines of Chun and Lee (2016), outdoor spaces were evaluated through field surveys and plan analysis across four categories: spatial planning, circulation planning, water feature planning, and program planning. The results showed that all three complexes largely satisfied basic requirements for spatial and circulation planning, including safe environments, diverse walking paths, and resting spaces. Water features were partially implemented, with variation across cases in the diversity of forms and sounds provided. However, program planning elements were entirely absent across all cases, and resident activities were confined to passive rest and walking. These findings revealed that healing environment design in urban apartment complexes remained predominantly visual and static, lacking the tactile, experiential, and programmatic elements necessary for multi-sensory healing. Future design was suggested to integrate tactile natural experiences and active outdoor programs alongside spatial planning to achieve more comprehensive healing environments.
