This study aimed to clarify how a high-performance coach who experienced burnout disengaged from high-performance sport coaching and later re-engage with coaching through a reconfigured practice. Using collaborative autoethnography, the first author’s retrospective reflective accounts were analyzed through dialogue with the second author and a critical friend. The Cultural Transition Model was used as the theoretical framework, with attention to social positioning, cultural practices, and meaning reconstruction. The analysis organized the first author’s social reintegration into three phases: (1) destabilization of the subject position as a high-performance coach, (2) repositioning as a university researcher through acute cultural adaptation, and (3) re-engagement through a reconfigured coaching practice integrating athletic retirement support and learning support as sociocultural adaptation. The findings show that social reintegration after burnout can be understood not as a return to the previous role, but as a process of reconstructing the meaning of being a coach within new cultural contexts and relationships.
