This study aimed to examine job competency and job satisfaction levels among housing welfare professionals in permanent public rental housing and to analyze the relationship between these two factors. A questionnaire survey was conducted with 71 professionals in the field. The results indicated that these professionals exhibited a high overall level of job competency, with the highest score in job attitude competency (M=4.12). Moreover, job competency was positively correlated with job satisfaction. Regression analysis identified job attitude competency as the only significant positive predictor of job satisfaction. These findings suggest that job satisfaction is more closely linked to attitudinal competencies—such as responsibility, commitment to public service, and a sense of calling—than to job knowledge or performance skills. Therefore, enhancing the professionalism of housing welfare professionals requires not only education and training in job knowledge and performance skills but also a practice-oriented support system that nurtures professional identity and job attitude competency.
