Korean adult males (N = 28) were classified into Low (<15%, n = 9), Moderate (15-25%, n = 12), and High (>25%, n = 7) body fat percentage (BF%) groups. The first aim was to quantify how group differences in aerobic capacity vary with VO2max expression (absolute, body weight-corrected, and fat-free mass [FFM]-corrected). The second aim was to preliminarily explore the association between BF% and the ventilatory threshold ratio (VT1/VO2max%). Body composition was assessed by bioelectrical impedance analysis, and VO2max and VT1 were measured by treadmill cardiopulmonary exercise testing. One-way ANOVA or Kruskal-Wallis tests were applied according to normality and homogeneity of variance, with effect sizes (η² or ε²) reported; the BF%-VT1/VO2max(%) association was examined by Pearson and Spearman correlations with 95% confidence intervals. Absolute VO2max did not differ among groups (F = 0.205, p = .816, η² = .016). Weight-corrected VO2max was significantly lower in the High than in the Low BF% group (H = 10.520, p = .005, ε²= .390), whereas FFM-corrected VO2max showed no group difference (H = 0.008, p = .996, ε²= .000). VT1/VO2max(%) showed a moderate-to-large but non-significant group trend (F = 2.575, p = .096, η² = .171). The Pearson correlation was significant (r = .500, 95% CI [.156, .736], p = .007), whereas the Spearman correlation was not (ρ = .367, 95% CI [-.020, .658], p = .055); this association is hypothesis-generating. Weight-based correction may underestimate aerobic capacity in individuals with higher body fat; reporting both corrected values is recommended.
