This study aimed to examine how loneliness among park golf participants changed over time and to investigate changes in family relationships, social loneliness, and sense of belonging. Data were collected at three time points-baseline, six weeks after participation, and post-test-and analyzed using a linear mixed-effects model with participant-specific random intercepts. The conclusions, after controlling for gender, region, marital status, regular physical activity, employment status, living alone, and age, are as follows. First, participants’ overall loneliness decreased from 3.21 at baseline to 3.13 at six weeks and 3.08 at post-test. The difference between baseline and post-test was statistically significant, suggesting that continued participation in park golf may be associated with reduced loneliness. Second, no significant changes over time were observed in family relationships or sense of belonging, although social loneliness showed a decreasing trend. Sense of belonging differed significantly by region, whereas no significant differences were found according to the other individual characteristics. In addition, a substantial proportion of the variation in loneliness was attributable to differences between individuals. In conclusion, park golf may be a beneficial leisure activity for alleviating participants’ overall loneliness. However, its ability to improve family relationships and sense of belonging in the short term appears limited. Therefore, long-term park golf programs should be designed to strengthen social interaction while considering participants’ individual characteristics and regional contexts.
