This study empirically investigates the structural relationships among foreign tourists' K-Food consumption motives, Korea's national image, and word-of-mouth intention. As global cultural exchange accelerates, K-Food has become a strategic cultural asset that supports national branding and promotes Korean culinary culture beyond its basic role as food. Given that food exploration remains a primary incentive for inbound foreign tourists, this research focuses on analyzing the causal mechanism through which consumption values derived from street food lead to national image formation and voluntary recommendation behaviors. To achieve this, K-Food consumption motives were operationalized into four sub-dimensions: economic value, convenience, and familiarity. The proposed relationships were tested using structural equation modeling with data from a field survey of 242 foreign tourists who had consumed street food in Korea. The empirical results reveal that economic value, convenience, and familiarity significantly and positively influenced Korea's national image. Among these, familiarity exerted the strongest impact on shaping national image, while economic value and convenience also served as critical antecedent factors. Conversely, atmosphere showed no statistically significant effect, indicating that practical value and psychological familiarity outweigh physical environment upgrades in the street food tourism context. Furthermore, Korea's national image had a strong positive effect on word-of-mouth intention. This confirms that positive K-Food experiences extend beyond individual satisfaction into national evaluations, driving voluntary behaviors such as peer recommendations and social media sharing. These findings provide practical marketing implications for the development of sustainable culinary tourism, including smart ordering systems, Hallyu content-integrated experience designs, and digital word-of-mouth environments.
