Inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) accounts for only 2–4% of breast cancer cases, yet disproportionately contributes to 10% of breast cancer-related mortality. Due to its aggressive nature and the absence of a solid tumor, IBC often evades early detection, posing significant challenges for treatment. Current targeted therapies for IBC are limited, emphasizing the critical need for novel therapeutic strategies. While some clinical studies have investigated the use of statins to inhibit cholesterol biosynthesis in breast cancer treatment, the results have been inconsistent, suggesting potential clinical benefits but highlighting the limitations of broad cholesterol inhibition as a treatment approach.
